Rustic Flair.

Some people like modern and pared down, some people like rustic and a more is more approach. However, just to be clear, not all interiors with a rustic flair touts a more is more mantra.  Here is a lovely round up of spaces with rustic flair.

So tell me is your decor all rustic or just rustic touches here and there? Have a lovely weekend everyone. xx

Airy and Minimalist Apartment

When Helle Jensen found this Apartment in the center of the Copenhagen she knew that it will need some work but it have a potential to look great. And really, she made it. It is furnished with a minimalist approach, very airy and bright, using lots of natural tones and wood elements . I think it looks nice and fresh, what do you think?

Feng Shui and The Front Entrance.

If you've been a long time reader of this blog, then you know about my love affair with Feng Shui.  Back in 2013, I wrote a couple of Feng Shui laden posts(sort of a series) and this post could be considered as an installment to that series. In Feng Shui, how we treat our front entrances can either stunt or enable the flow of positive energy, health, prosperity, abundance, and tranquility in our homes and lives. The book Feng Shui Your Life by Jayme Barrett offers enlightening information on how to "Feng Shui Your Front Entrance." It was my source for the 2013 series and will be for today's post.

The first step is to create a clear, open, and beautiful entrance for energy to move through and to circulate in your home. Feng Shui promotes the belief that your golden opportunities come in through the front door. The entrance above is a lovely example. The architectural hard edges are softened with the ivy growing upwards. The flowers also provide a welcoming show of color. Abundant foliage in the front yard is a natural solution for diffusing negative energy coming towards the door. In all other instances, keep trees and shrubs well trimmed so they do not block positive energy entering the home.

If you have the space for it, Feng Shui expert Jayme Barrett advises that placing chairs on your front porch both symbolically and practically invites your guests to feel at home.

Placing a wind chime outside your door promotes good luck and good fortune while redirecting negative energy.

Trees add stability, healing, and vibrant energy to the home. Keep plants and shrubs well manicured. Your entrance should offer a welcome embrace to you and beckon on in positive energy filled with unlimited opportunities.

What kind of first impression does your front entrance give? xx

Meet Our Newest Family Members!

Last weekend, we went to a friend's farm to collect the newest members of our family. Aren't their horses beautiful! They had goats, dogs, horses, ducks, geese, rabbits, chickens, and a cat! The boys had a fantastic time there! Click on images to view larger versions.

And here are the newest members of our family! Aren't they lovely?

We've named them and have decided to call the orange one Meg, the black and white one Piper, the black one Java(we named her after her breed), and the white one Roxie.

The hubby made their coop too and they seem right at home!

I am not sure if Ginger, our dog sees them as a meal or as playmates. We are not taking any chances,  so we supervise closely. However, we're hoping she will get used to having them around. Happy weekend everyone and stay warm. It's been so cold and dreary here all week. xx

Bohemian Chic Home

Home of the stylist Marie Olsson Nylander is a beautiful combination of luxury and bohemian style mixed with mid century design. It must took a lot of effort to collect all the decorative pieces and matching furniture to create this very exciting mix, but it was for sure worth the effort. When you see the place like this, it is obvious that it is something special. Interesting detail is, how the kitchen contrasts with the rest of the house with its very minimalistic design.  How do you feel about this kind of eclectic style?
